Structural Framing Timber – The Backbone of Every Build

When you’re framing a home, shed, extension or commercial space, solid, straight structural timber makes all the difference.

At US Truss, we supply quality pine framing timber that’s strong, reliable and fully compliant with Australian Standards. Whether you’re after MGP10, MGP12 or treated options, we’ve got the lengths and sizes to suit your plans — ready for delivery across Victoria.

What Is Structural Framing Timber?

Structural timber is machine-graded wood (usually pine) used to build the load-bearing parts of a structure — like walls, floors and roofs. It’s used for studs, nogs, top and bottom plates, roof battens and more.

We stock timber that meets AS/NZS 1748 and AS1684 codes, so you can use it with confidence in any residential or light commercial job.

Frequently Asked Questions – Structural Framing Timber

Need help choosing the right timber for your frame?

Here are some common questions we get from builders. If you’re unsure, just reach out — we’re happy to walk you through it.

MGP stands for Machine Graded Pine. MGP10 is a strength grade that’s commonly used in house framing — strong enough for walls, floors, and roof framing.

MGP12 timber is slightly stronger and stiffer than MGP10. It’s used in jobs that require more load capacity, like longer spans or high-load areas.

Treated pine isn’t usually needed indoors unless you’re building in a termite-prone area. We can help you choose the right grade for your site.

We stock standard lengths and can pre-cut timber to spec on request — just let us know when ordering.

Yes — just let us know your lengths and we'll prepare it for you where possible.

We sure do — across Melbourne, the southeast, and most regional areas in Victoria.
